On-The-Land Program


LUNAAPEEW FAMILY ON-THE-LAND PROGRAM

Lunaape is the name we call our family. Our ancestors had a belief and view of the world. It is our cultural heritage. We have misplaced much of the worldview and cultural knowledge that helped us understand our original relationships to each other and creation. We, myself and like-minded individuals are going to start a program open to families/individuals to offer cultural social activities to help those that want to participate and  learn about our cultural Lunaape identity.

The program will be free to those that want to attend. Starting this March /2018 We will be attempting to host weekend gatherings through Meesingw and Kaakaapush Wihkiit our school. We want to offer the opportunity for families/individuals to participate in on-the-land activities. This educational experience will find its success in the hearts and generosity of our participants.

This is open to all kind hearts and participants can come and go as they please, as it is a very open program. We have no funding for this endeavor but our ancestors did many of the activities that we would like to participate in for centuries without funding. If possible please bring your own tobacco, bundles, tools, feast plates and donations of food

We would like to host a Bighouse sing and sharing one of the Friday nights in the month and on-the-land activities on at least two (2) Saturdays each month.

Our gatherings will include:• Language Instruction
• Prepare or provide simple potluck meals
• Cultural Teachings
• Social Singing and Dancing.
